Taiwanese meat stew (aka rou geng tang) is made with pork shoulder and fish paste. It is a common Taiwanese street food that is hearty and great on a cold night. The tender pieces of pork are stewed with shiitake mushrooms, bamboo, carrots, cabbage, soy sauce, and black vinegar. To add more depth of flavor, my husband’s family likes to add chicken stock and bonito fish stock to the stew.<\/p>\n\n\n
