5 Quick Authentic Chinese Dishes for a Busy Household

It has been a while since I’ve posted, but I figure it is time I gave you an update. With people learning to live with Covid, including myself, life is returning to normal more and more. My children were back to school this past year, my husband was back in the office, and I am embarking on more projects. As such, I thought it would be a good time to write a quick post on the recipes that I have relied on over the last year that have been quick, hearty, and delicious authentic Chinese meals. For a busy household, you do not have as much time to prepare and cook meals, so these dishes were my favorites because I could easily find the ingredients in my pantry and refrigerator and they took less than an hour to prepare and cook. Here are my current favorites!

  • Shrimp with Lobster Sauce: I like to do variations on this depending on what I have in the refrigerator or what I can thaw quickly. I have made this with ground turkey and without shrimp, but added more green peas. Click the image below or link for the recipe!

  • Easy Ground Beef Shiitake Mushroom Rice: This is another children’s favorite. It is hearty, filling, and also resembles sticky rice. Serve this with a separate stir-fried vegetable dish and you have a healthy balanced meal. Click the image below or link for the recipe!

  • Black Pepper Chicken: Green Pepper chicken with black pepper is a delicious favorite of my husband’s and a favorite of mine, because of how often I can find chicken, an onion, green pepper, and celery left over in my refrigerator from other non-Chinese dishes. • Three Cup Chicken: This is a deliciously easy and quick dish, but I do admit it is on the oilier side, but you can modify this to cut down on the amount of sesame oil used. Also if you don’t have Thai basil on hand, you can always substitute Italian basil or forego it altogether. The dish will still be very delicious! Click the image below or link for the recipe!

I hope this is helpful as these have been my go-to dishes this past school year as we navigated the return to school and after-school activities. I find free time for cooking to be less and less and it is always helpful to find recipes that take less than an hour to cook, but are still balanced and delicious!
