Simple Chinese Braised Pork Ribs

Chinese Braised Pork Ribs is a simple, slow-cooked, and tender soy sauce meat dish that goes well with white rice. This dish requires some braising time, so this is not a dish you can cook last minute. However, you can prepare it early, just let it simmer on low heat for 3 hours, and then it will be ready to serve! My children are big fans of this and even love to use the sauce that the ribs were braised in to mix with their white rice.

Braised Soy Sauce Pork Ribs is a simple and tender meat dish that goes well with white rice.

Ingredients

  • 2 racks of baby back ribs

  • 2 tablespoons olive oil

  • 6 cups water

  • 2/3 cups soy sauce

Directions

  • Cut baby back pork ribs into individual ribs.
  • In a stainless steel large pot, heat on high 2 tablespoons of olive oil. When the oil has heated slightly, place pork ribs one-by-one in the pan on their side. Let’s sear until the pork rib loosens from the pan or is golden brown on the side, then flip the ribs and sear the other side of the ribs. Set those done in a temporary plate until all ribs have been seared.
  • Return ribs to pot, add soy sauce, and then add water until ribs are entirely covered. Cover and bring to a boil. Boil until scum gathers on the surface and using a grease skimmer, skim most of the scum off the top.
  • Turn heat to low, cover, and let simmer for 3 hours. After 3 hours, test one rib to see if pork meat is fall-off tender. If pork meat comes off the bone easily, ribs are ready to be served. Remove the ribs from the sauce, plate, and serve. Some sauce can be scooped into a separate bowl to offer as a sauce to drizzle on the ribs or white rice. If the pork meat does not fall off the bone easily, continue to let simmer until the pork is fall-off tender.
